Mitzvah Update

When I cut my hair in February it will probably be just above my shoulders (yay! I thought it would've been shorter). I want to dye my hair, so it will look similar to this:
(I drew that)
I'm really excited to dye my hair because I've wanted to dye my hair for a long time. Also, I really don't want my hair to be short again, but I'm still going to do it because
A) It will grow back
B) It's a nice thing to do and
C) I'm trying to be a nice person

I might get my makeup done for my party. I'm really excited because the only time I've ever gotten a makeover like that, I was 7, and it was for my aunt's wedding.

These are all the ponytails I've collected so far, and fun fact, I'm wearing that shirt right now.

See?
I made it for the 4th of July, and I love it.
Anyway, thank you for all the ponytails and please keep them coming. I'm glad I can help others out. Peace!

Different Hair Cuts

While thinking about how I'm cutting my hair in February, I've been looking at hair cuts I like for short hair. Nobody HAS to do these exact hair cuts, they are just some that I like.

Shoulder Length Hair:

Chin Length Hair:

Pixie Cut:

I'm pretty sure my hair is going to be chin length when I cut it in February, and it will probably end up something like Ginnifer Goodwin's. I can use texturizing spray to get it wavy like hers.

Bat-Mitzvah Progress

Hey there! Today I started my tutoring for my bat mitzvah. I started reading my Torah portion. A Torah is a scroll with historical/Biblical Jewish stories on it in Hebrew. I also created a pinterest board for my bat mitzvah, but so far I only have tallit I like in it. Here are some pins in the board:

Here is my board if you want to see the rest of it:

Some of the tallit are too expensive, but I still like them.

We're having a boho chic themed party for our bat-mitzvah party, and I will slay it!
killed it. succeeded in something amazing.
Miley's new album slayed

btw.

I'm really excited for it, and I also have a pinterest board for the party.

I think I'm going to try a hairstyle like this for the party since my hair will be shorter.

And I have a skirt I'm going to wear with leggings or another skirt with it because it's lace.

New Program Found!

Hello Everybody!
Recently, I found a new program that is called Children with Hair Loss. This program is basically a mix of Pantene's Beautiful Lengths and Locks of Love. I will be donating to CWHL instead of LoL and PBL. Here are the requirements:

  • Hair should be at least 8 inches in length or longer is preferred.
  • Hair must be clean and dry, pony-tailed and/or braided (this keeps the hair in one direction).
  • Place rubberband or pony tail holder on each end.
  • Non-chemically treated hair is preferred (but any hair in good condition will be accepted).
  • Gray hair is accepted.
  • Print hair donation form.
  • Place donation form and hair in ziplock bag and mail to Children with Hair Loss

Instead of mailing to CWHL please mail t
2400 East Arizona Biltmore Circle
Suite 1200
Phoenix, AZ  85016

For the donation form, here is a link to the form:

So far I have 12 ponytails, but I am not sure how many ponytails go into a wig. I hope to see more ponytails coming my way. Thank you to everyone that has donated.

Updates on Project

While thinking about my project, I have come up with what success looks like to me. I would like to be able to create 10 wigs in all. Each wig takes 6-15 ponytails, so I would like to collect 60-150 ponytails. So far I have about 10 ponytails. It would be amazing if I could reach my goal by next February.

It turns out that Locks of Love takes dyed hair, so I will also donate to Locks of Love if you have dyed hair but you want to donate.

The requirements for Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program are as follows:
-no chemical dye in the hair
        -at least 8 inches long
-only 5% gray hairs can be in the hair donated

The requirements set for the dyes and colors of hair were set because if the hair has dye or gray color, the dye used when the wigs are colored will be affected differently with unnaturally colored hair or gray hair.

The requirements for Locks of Love are as follows:
-dyed hair is ok as long as it was not bleached before the dyeing process
-layered hair is fine if the longest layer is at least 10 inches
        -at least 10 inches long
-gray is ok, but it will be sold for manufacturing costs

If you do not have any hair to donate, you could always send a monetary donation. Locks of Love accepts checks, but there is no information that I can find about money donations to PBL.

    Mitzvah Project

I'm Slater Kelly. Pretty soon (AAAH!!!!!!!!) I will turn thirteen. I am Jewish, so that means i get to have a Bat Mitzvah. When that happens, I will do a mitzvah project. For my mitzvah project I want to earn hair for Pantene's Beautiful Lengths program. If you would like to donate hair, but it is too short you are being given now until January/February of 2015. The hair has to be at least 8 inches long, and it can't have any dye in it.

I will post more info on the hair requirements and other needed things later. For now, peace.
